Product details

The Hayward HeatPro HP50TA is an above ground pool heat pump rated at 50,000 BTU, with a titanium heat exchanger.

How it heats

A heat pump does not burn fuel. It takes heat out of the outside air and moves it into the pool water, which makes it far cheaper to run over a season than a gas heater. It works best holding a pool at temperature rather than bringing a cold one up quickly, and its output depends on the air temperature, so it is at its best extending the season at either end.

Is this for an above ground pool?

How is a heat pump different from a gas heater?
A gas heater burns fuel and heats water quickly. A heat pump pulls heat out of the outside air and moves it into the pool, which is slower from cold but much cheaper to run once the water is up to temperature.
Does it work in cold weather?
Air source heat pumps depend on the temperature of the air they draw from, so output falls as the air cools. They earn their keep extending the season at either end rather than heating through the winter.
How does it ship?
By freight, on a pallet. Plan for a curbside delivery and a way to move it to its position.
