The Hayward SP1022BLK is a threaded inlet fitting in black, 1-1/2 inch FIP by 2 inch MIP. It is the genuine Hayward part.
How it plumbs up
The 2 inch male thread goes into the wall port on the pool side of the return line. The 1-1/2 inch female thread facing into the pool then takes whatever return fitting or directional eyeball you are using. Because both ends are threaded rather than glued, the fitting can be backed out later without cutting anything.
Before you order
Return ports are not uniform between pools and builders. Check that your wall port takes a 2 inch male thread and that the insert you plan to use is 1-1/2 inch male, and the fitting will go straight in.
