Product details

The Hayward SP1082GV is the main drain skimmer valve, a suction outlet valve assembly for the Hayward SP1082, SP1084 and SP1075 automatic skimmers. It is the genuine Hayward part, in plastic.

What it controls

The valve sits in the bottom of the skimmer and governs how the pump draws between the skimmer throat and the main drain line. That balance is what keeps surface debris moving toward the skimmer while the drain still pulls from the floor.

When it needs replacing

It lives underwater in chemically treated water and takes the full pull of the pump, so plastic fatigue is normal over the life of a pool. The symptoms are usually indirect: a skimmer that stops pulling the way it used to, a main drain that seems to have stopped working, or a valve that will not move. Match the part number against your skimmer model, since it is listed for the SP1082, SP1084 and SP1075.
