Product details

The Pentair 460730 is the 200,000 BTU natural gas MasterTemp, with electronic ignition, digital temperature control and low NOx certification. It is sized for in ground residential pools and spas.

Built to be used, not managed

MasterTemp is designed to operate about as simply as a home furnace. Indicator lights on the panel tell you what the heater is doing without a manual, temperature is set digitally, and the display rotates so it stays readable no matter which direction the unit ends up facing on the pad. There is a manual gas shut-off on the heater itself for when it needs service.

Fast, quiet, compact

It heats up quickly, which matters most on a spa where nobody wants to wait. The cabinet is small for the output and the unit runs quietly, so it can sit close to a patio without dominating it. The exterior is rustproof and built to be left outside year round.

Emissions and efficiency

The heater is certified for low NOx emission and rated past the industry threshold for it, which matters in jurisdictions that require low NOx equipment. Efficiency is at the top of its class for a gas fired pool heater.

This is the natural gas version. Confirm the fuel at the house, the gas line size and the vent arrangement, since a heater of this output has real supply requirements.

Is 460730 the natural gas or the propane MasterTemp 200?
Natural gas. Pentair builds each MasterTemp 200 for one fuel, and the propane version is a separate part number.
What size pool is the MasterTemp 200 for?
Pentair's smallest full size MasterTemp, at 200,000 BTU/hr input. Our pool heater size calculator works out what your pool needs from its surface, the rise you want and the wind.
Where is the manual for the MasterTemp 200?
Under Downloads on this page, as the Owners Manual. It is Pentair's MasterTemp Installation and User's Guide, part number 472592, which covers the 175,000 to 400,000 BTU models in natural gas and propane, the HD and ASME versions included.
What do the ERR codes on a MasterTemp 200 mean?
Each one names the safety device that opened. ERR PS is the water pressure switch, which means no water is flowing through the heater. ERR HLS is the high limit switch, ERR AFS the air flow switch, ERR IGN a failed ignition and ERR SFS a stack flue temperature above 480 degrees F. Does the MasterTemp 200 have a pilot light?
No. It lights with a hot surface igniter on each call for heat, so there is no standing pilot to keep lit or relight.
Can the MasterTemp 200 be installed indoors?
It ships set up for outdoor installation, with its venting built in. Pentair sells a vent conversion kit for indoor installations in the US and Canada, and recommends a carbon monoxide detector near any heater installed indoors.
