Product details

The Hayward AX5010G18 is the black rubber o-ring that seals the cleaner connector, the fitting where the hose joins the cleaner. It is the genuine Hayward part.

Where it is used

Hayward lists this o-ring across four cleaner families: the Phantom and Phantom Turbo, and the Viper and Viio Turbo. In each one it does the same job, holding the connector airtight so the full pull of the pump reaches the cleaner head.

The symptom it fixes

A cleaner that has slowed down, wanders instead of climbing, or stalls in a corner is often losing suction rather than losing power. Rubber that has gone hard, flat or split at the connector is a common cause, and it is the cheapest thing on the cleaner to rule out. Replace the o-ring, refit the connector and check the cleaner pulls its normal pattern again.

On the cleaner connector, the fitting that joins the hose to the cleaner.
Can I use a generic o-ring the same size?
You can get away with it for a while, but the molded Hayward part is sized and compounded for the connector and holds its shape longer in chlorinated water.
My cleaner lost suction, could this be it?
It is one of the first things to check. A seal that has gone flat, hard or torn lets air into the connector and the cleaner loses the vacuum it needs to drive.
