Product details

The Pentair 2400-286 is the ignitor for PowerMax PM 500 through PM 2000 commercial pool heaters, supplied with its gasket. It is the genuine Pentair part.

What it does

When the control board calls for heat and the blower proves, the ignitor is what lights the burner. Everything upstream of it can be working perfectly and the heater will still sit there cycling if the ignitor has cracked, eroded or lost its ground.

Why the gasket is included

The ignitor mounts through the combustion chamber wall, and that joint has to seal. A gasket that has been through thousands of heat cycles has taken a set and will not seal again, so Pentair ships a new one with the part.

Commercial duty

On a commercial heater the burner cycles far more than on a residential unit, and ignitors are a scheduled wear item rather than a surprise. Facilities that keep one on the shelf lose an hour to the repair instead of a weekend to the wait.

Yes. Pentair 2400-286 is supplied as the ignitor with its gasket.
My heater runs the blower but never lights. Is this the part?
It is the first place to look. Once the control has called for heat and the blower has proved, the ignitor is what starts the fire, and a cracked or eroded one will not.
