This is the Jacuzzi 13123005R2 faceplate gasket for W series skimmers. It is the flat seal that goes between the skimmer faceplate and the pool wall.
What it does
The faceplate clamps the liner or wall surface against the skimmer throat, and the gasket is what makes that joint watertight. When it goes hard, shrinks or tears, water starts finding its way behind the faceplate instead of running cleanly into the skimmer, and the joint can weep.
When to change it
Any time the faceplate is off. Gaskets age from sun, chemicals and repeated compression, and a used one rarely re-seals as well the second time. Replacing it while the screws are already out saves doing the job twice.
