Hayward Super II Pump Parts

39 products

Get the Super II's model number off the pump before ordering anything that sits inside it. Hayward makes it max rated, with an X in the number as in SP3010X15, and full rated, marked EE, and the impeller, diffuser and wear ring change with the size: 3/4 to 1-1/2 HP max rated models use diffuser SPX3000BN with ring SPX3005R, and 2 HP and up use SPX3021B with SPX3021R. The shaft seal and diffuser gasket are the Super Pump's SPX1600Z2 and SPX1600R.

Which Super II do you have?

The model is on the label, such as SP3010X15. An EE model or a two speed (X152, X202, X252) takes its size's impeller, diffuser and ring; its motor differs.

Numbers are the maker's own.

About Hayward Super II Pump Parts

Hayward parts for the Super II, the SP3000 and SP3000X series: impellers by horsepower, the wear rings and diffusers that go with them, threaded shaft motors from 3/4 to 3 HP, shaft seals and seal kits, the seal plate and motor mounting plate, the clear thread on lid and the hand knob cover, baskets, and pump housings with 1-1/2 or 2 inch ports.

The Super Pump, TriStar and Power-Flo each have a parts page too. Parts for every make are on pump parts and motors, motors on their own on pool pump motors, and complete pumps on Hayward pool pumps.

Two Pool School guides go with these parts. After a new lid O-ring, basket or shaft seal, how to prime a pool pump gets the Super II running again, with each maker's time limit. And before ordering a motor for the Super II, motor or whole pump has the tests that tell a failed motor from a jammed impeller.

Questions about Hayward Super II Pump Parts

My Hayward Super II label says 1-1/2 HP. Is that max rated or full rated, and does it matter?

It matters for the impeller. Hayward's chart sets each max rating beside a full rating one step lower, so 1-1/2 HP max equals 1 HP full. A max rated SP3010X15 takes impeller SPX3010C, while a 1-1/2 HP full rated pump, the same size as the 2 HP max rated SP3015X20, takes SPX3016C. Hayward's motor numbers carry an M for max rated and a B for full rated, so the motor's part number settles it.

Water is leaking under the motor of my Hayward Super II. Which seal fits it?

SPX1600Z2, the same shaft seal the Super Pump uses. Hayward's SPX3000TRA kit pairs it with the Super II housing gasket and diffuser gasket, and the SPXHKIT2 quick fix kit adds the lid O-ring and lubricant. The motor and drive slide out of the housing on six bolts without disturbing the pipes. Hayward wants seal leaks fixed straight away, since the water ends up in the motor bearings.

My Hayward Super II keeps losing prime. Could it be the lid?

It is the first place to look. Hayward asks for the lid O-ring to be cleaned, seated in its groove and greased with Jack's 327 every time the lid comes off, and for the lid to be turned down by hand, never with a wrench. Hayward's parts list gives the clear thread on lid SPX3100D with O-ring SPX3000S; a Super II with a hand knob lid takes SPX3000D. A loose union or fitting on the suction side will also stop it priming.

My Hayward Super II is louder than it used to be and pumps less. Which parts wear?

Hayward's manual lists the usual suspects: an air leak on the suction side, stones or debris striking the impeller, a plugged or broken impeller, and motor bearings worn out, sometimes by water getting past a failed seal. A damaged impeller gets a new shaft seal with it. The impeller ring comes off at the same time: SPX3005R on the 3/4 to 1-1/2 HP max rated models and SPX3021R from 2 HP up.

Which motor fits my Hayward Super II pump?

A Hayward threaded shaft motor matched to the model, from SPX1605Z1, the 3/4 HP, on the SP3005X7 to SPX1625Z1, the 3 HP, on the SP3025X30, with M added for max rated or B for full rated. From 3/4 to 2-1/2 HP these are the same motor numbers the Super Pump's manual uses. A two speed Super II such as the SP3010X152 needs a two speed motor, SPX1610Z2M for that one.

Is my Hayward Super II housing the 1-1/2 inch or the 2 inch one?

Hayward's chart puts housing SPX3100AAZ on the SP3005X7 and SP3007X10, and SPX3120AAZ on the EE version of the SP3007 and on everything from the SP3010X15 up. The first has 1-1/2 inch threaded ports and the second 2 inch. The housing is the strainer pot and both ports in one piece, and the motor and drive come out of it on six bolts, so it can stay plumbed in while the pump is serviced.
