Hayward CX250Z2S is the tie rod for the Star-Clear cartridge filter, model C250. It is the genuine Hayward part.
What it does
The tie rod passes down the center of the filter and pulls the internal plates together so the cartridge element is held square and sealed. If the rod is bent, badly corroded or stripped where the nut lands, the element can shift under pressure and dirty water slips past it instead of going through the media.
