Product details

The Hayward SPX3000SV is the cover o-ring for the C250CF and C500CF chlorine feeders, made from a special composition Viton. It is the genuine Hayward part.

Why the compound matters

The lid seal on a chlorine feeder sits directly over concentrated sanitizer. A standard rubber o-ring in that position hardens, glazes and cracks in a season or two. Viton is used here because it resists that chemical attack and keeps sealing.

Fitting it

Clean the groove and the lid seating surface before the new seal goes in, and use a silicone based o-ring lubricant rather than a petroleum grease. Petroleum products break down the seal from the outside and undo the reason for the better compound in the first place.

Which feeders does this o-ring fit?
The Hayward C250CF and C500CF chlorine feeders.
Why is it Viton and not standard rubber?
A feeder lid seal sits directly above concentrated chlorine. Viton holds up to that chemical attack far longer than a standard rubber compound.
My feeder lid is leaking. Is this the fix?
A leak at the lid is usually the cover o-ring, especially if it looks flat, glazed or cracked. Clean the groove and the lid seat before fitting the new one.
Should I grease it?
Use a silicone based o-ring lubricant. Petroleum based grease attacks the seal and shortens its life.
