What it does

The injection check valve is the fitting where the feeder puts chemical into the plumbing. The check function is the important half of that job: it lets the dose through into the line and stops pool water pushing back up the tubing toward the pump.

When to replace it

Check valves are consumables on a feeder. Acid and chlorine harden the internals over time, and a valve that sticks open backfeeds while one that sticks shut stops the dose entirely. If the feeder cycles but the chemistry never moves, this is one of the first parts to pull and look at.
