Pentair Rainbow Lock Ring R172214

The Pentair Rainbow R172214 is the locking ring that holds the lid on several pieces of Pentair equipment. It threads down over the lid to clamp it against the body and o-ring, and it is the part that gets cracked or stripped from years of opening and closing.

A ring that will not seal is often a tired lid o-ring rather than the ring itself. The lid o-ring and lock spring are separate parts, and it is worth checking both before reassembling.
