Why a chlorinator needs a check valve
The water inside a tab feeder is far more aggressive than pool water. The check valve makes sure that water can only move one way, out toward the pool, and never back up the line toward the heater and the rest of the equipment. When the valve stops sealing, the damage tends to show up on the expensive parts upstream long before anyone suspects the feeder.
Treat it as a wear part
