Product details
The Pentair 210396Z is the inline chlorinator check valve screen for the Rainbow automatic feeder. It appears in the parts diagrams for the Rainbow 320 and the Rainbow 322, and is also listed under the number R172255.
What the screen does
The screen sits in the check valve on the inline chlorinator. Its job is to keep debris out of the valve so the feeder can meter sanitizer at the rate the dial is set to. When it clogs or tears, feed rate goes unpredictable and the chlorinator gets blamed for a chemistry problem that is really a two dollar part.
When to change it
Any time the feeder is open, look at the screen. Tablet dust and scale build on it, and once flow through the valve is restricted the whole feeder behaves differently. Replacing it alongside the lid o-ring is a sensible bit of routine chlorinator maintenance.
