Product details

The Pentair Rainbow R172323 is a 1/4 inch tube by tube check valve supplied with compression nuts. It is listed for the Rainbow 300, 302, 300-19 and 300-29 chemical feeders.

What it does

A chemical feeder pushes solution along a small tube. A check valve in that line lets it travel one way and shuts if pressure tries to send anything back, which keeps feeder chemistry out of places it should not reach. It is a small part that protects considerably more expensive equipment.

Making it off

Both ends take 1/4 inch tubing and the compression nuts are included, so the connections can be made without hunting for extra fittings. Fit the valve the correct way round for your feeder installation, because a check valve turned the wrong way simply stops the line.

When to change one

Check valves in chemical service age from the inside. If a feeder line weeps back, or the feeder stops holding pressure, the check valve is one of the first things worth replacing rather than diagnosing further.
