Why the check valve matters

A chemical feeder is plumbed into a line that carries pressure while the pump runs and goes still when it stops. The check valve is what keeps feeder solution moving in one direction only. Without a working check, concentrated solution can find its way back along the pipe when the system shuts down, which is hard on the equipment it reaches.

Spring style

The spring holds the valve closed until flow opens it, so the valve seals no matter how the tubing is routed. That is the difference between this version and a check that relies on gravity and has to be mounted a particular way.
