This is the Hayward RCX78005, the bottom filter lid gasket for TigerShark robotic pool cleaners. It is the genuine factory part.
What the gasket does
The gasket seals the filter housing where the bottom lid closes against it. That seal is what forces every bit of water the cleaner pulls in to pass through the filter media instead of slipping around the edge. When the gasket flattens, hardens or splits, some of the flow takes the easy route past the media and the dirt it was carrying goes straight back into the pool.
The symptom
A cleaner that still drives its pattern and still runs its full cycle, but leaves fine debris behind, and a filter that comes out looking too clean for the length of the run. That is a bypass, and a tired gasket is the usual reason for it.
While you are in there
The gasket is visible every time the filter is emptied, so it costs nothing to look at it during a routine clean. Replace it when it no longer springs back or when the sealing face is cracked.
