What a shoe does
The shoes are the small plastic feet the cleaner actually walks on. They take all the abrasion so the pod does not, and they wear down steadily on any surface. Once they are past their step the pod sits lower than it should, drag goes up and the cleaner starts stalling, wandering or missing sections of the floor.
