Product details

The Hayward V094P is the in-line regulator valve used across a range of Hayward suction side cleaners, including the AquaBug, AquaDroid, Pool Vac Ultra, Diver Dave and Wanda the Whale.

What it controls

A suction cleaner has a narrow window of flow it works in. The regulator valve is what holds it there. Give the cleaner too much suction and it presses hard against the surface, climbs a wall and stays there. Give it too little and it drifts around without picking anything up. Either way the pool ends up dirty and the pump gets blamed.

Fitting the replacement

The valve sits in the hose line between the cleaner and the suction port. Swapping it is a hose disconnect and reconnect, no tools of consequence. While you have the hose apart, check the sections for cracks and splits, since air leaks in old hose produce symptoms that look a lot like a failed regulator.

What does a regulator valve do?
It controls how much suction reaches the cleaner. The valve sets the working flow so the cleaner moves at the speed it was designed for instead of being starved or pinned to the floor.
