Product details

The Pentair 506308 is a Bermuda skimmer in white PVC with a 2 inch slip port and the float valve assembly included. Pentair specifies it for concrete and gunite pools and spas.

What the float valve adds

The float valve sits in the bottom of the skimmer and closes off suction if the water level falls below the skimmer throat. That protects the pump from running dry when evaporation, a leak or a heavy splash out drops the level, which is the single most common way a pump seal gets destroyed.

Plumbing and installation

The port is 2 inch slip, so it takes 2 inch PVC glued directly into the skimmer. This body is intended for a concrete or gunite shell, where it is set in place and poured around rather than fitted to a panel wall.

Matching parts later

Because it is part of the Bermuda line, the consumables that wear out first, the basket, the weir door and the lid, are all standard Bermuda parts and easy to source when the time comes.
