Product details

The Pentair 225570 is a 1-1/2 in five port top feed T-valve with QuikStop, the component that drives an in floor cleaning system. It is the piece that decides where the water goes.

How it works

The valve takes high pressure water from the pump and directs it to one of five zones at a time. Only the pop-up heads assigned to that zone rise and fire. When the valve steps on, that zone drops and the next one comes up. Sweeping the pool a zone at a time is what lets a single pump produce enough pressure at the heads to actually move debris.

Construction and adjustment

The upper housing is built for durability and carries the Speed Control mechanism, so the rate at which the valve moves between zones is set on the valve itself. The design is meant to keep maintenance straightforward once installed.

A circulation benefit

There is a side effect worth knowing about. Because the system pushes water up from the floor across every zone in turn, the pool mixes instead of stratifying into a warm top layer and a cold bottom. On a heated pool that means the heater warms the whole body of water rather than just the surface.
