The SuperPro B-167 is a generic strainer basket for the Hayward Super Pump, replacing Hayward part SPX1600M. It is molded in durable plastic and fits across the Super Pump line, from the SP1600X5 through to the SP2621.
What the basket is doing
Everything the skimmer misses arrives at the pump. The strainer basket is the last thing standing between that debris and the impeller, and it is the cheapest part in the whole flow path. When the basket cracks or its mesh splits, leaves and grit pass straight through, pack into the impeller vanes and drop the flow, and the shaft seal ends up running hotter than it should. Replacing a damaged basket is a small job that prevents a large one.
Fit and dimensions
Measured at the top, including the outer lip, it is 5-3/4" X 5-1/8". The bottom is 5" X 3-7/8" and the height is 5-7/8". It is carried under several numbers, B-167 as the SuperPro reference and SPX1600M and SP1600M as the Hayward equivalents, with SP-1600M and SP-1600-M listed as substitutes. This is the generic version, built to the same fit at a lower cost, and an OEM Hayward basket is listed separately for anyone who wants the factory part.
