Product details

The Pentair 270068 is the top valve assembly for the 1-1/2 inch valve, supplied in white with decals for both sand and DE filter service. It is the genuine Pentair part.

What is in the kit

The top assembly is the half of the valve that carries the handle and the moving porting. It comes complete, in plastic, and both decal sets are included so the same kit works whether the valve is sitting on a sand filter or a DE filter. Fit the decal that matches your filter and the positions read correctly for the person using it.

Why replace the top rather than the valve

Valves usually fail at the top. Handles crack, the detent wears, the seal surface scores. The body and the pipe connections underneath are typically fine, and cutting a whole valve out of hard plumbing is a much bigger job than lifting the top assembly off. If the body is sound, this is the repair.

What size valve is this for?

Does it come with the label decals?
Yes. Decals for both sand filters and DE filters are included, so the same kit suits either type of filter.
Do I have to replace the whole valve?
Not if the valve body and its plumbing connections are sound. The top assembly is the part that carries the handle and the porting wear, so replacing it puts the valve back in service without cutting into the pipework.
