What it does
The bottom elbow sits deep inside the tank where the standpipe meets the lower plumbing. Everything the filter passes moves through that joint, so when it cracks or loosens, sand starts finding its way back to the pool through the return lines. Replacing the elbow while the tank is open is far quicker than opening it twice.
