The part that keeps water out
On a wet niche light, the lens and its gasket are the seal between the pool and the fixture. A chipped, crazed or cracked lens has to be replaced, and a lens that has been out of the housing more than once is worth replacing rather than reusing.
Fit the gasket with it
The gasket that seals the lens is a separate part. Compression sets it permanently, so an old gasket rarely reseals against a new lens. Change both together and torque the ring evenly around the fixture.
