Why a double wire clamp

A double wire clamp puts two loops around the hose instead of one band. The grip is spread out, which is kinder to the hose than a single narrow band pulled hard against it. Metal construction means it keeps its tension outdoors rather than relaxing over a season.

Replacing it

Clamps get overlooked because they are cheap, but a clamp that has rusted or will not tighten any further is the reason behind a lot of slow leaks at hose connections. If the joint is damp and the hose itself is sound, change the clamp before you go looking any deeper.
