This is the index plate for the Sta-Rite WC212-134 plastic slide valve, supplied as a new OEM part under number 14930-0012.
What it does
The index plate is the marked face on top of the valve that identifies each handle position. It is not a sealing part and it does not affect flow, but it is how anyone standing at the pad knows whether the valve is set to filter or to backwash. Once sun and chlorine have faded the markings or cracked the plastic, that information is gone, and a valve left in the wrong position after a backwash is a fast way to dump water or run a pump against a closed path.
Fitting
The plate replaces the existing one on the valve. The handle, the piston and the seals inside the valve are separate parts, so if the valve is also leaking or stiff, look at those while you have it apart.
