Hayward S244T Sand Filter Lateral Assembly with Center Pipe

The Hayward SX244DA is the lateral assembly with center pipe for the Pro Series S244T, S244TC and S270T sand filters. It is the genuine Hayward part, supplied with the laterals already fitted to the center pipe.

Dimensions

Total length is 28 in. The top pipe on its own measures 20-5/8 in., and each lateral is 7-3/16 in. long. Compare those against the old assembly before ordering, since Hayward uses different lateral assemblies across its tank sizes.

When it is needed

Sand showing up on the pool floor after a backwash almost always means a cracked lateral. Because the laterals sit under the full sand bed, the tank has to be emptied to reach them, so most people replace the sand at the same time and start fresh.
