The Hayward ProSeries 22 inch sand filter is supplied as a complete unit with its top-mount valve, sold under part number W3S220T. Hayward also lists the same filter as S220T, so if your paperwork or an older quote shows that number, it is this filter.

Where ProSeries sits

ProSeries is the Hayward sand filter family aimed at inground pools. Hayward builds the line around one goal, which is water that stays clear and clean through the swim season without the owner fighting it.

Top-mount layout

Top-mount means the valve is fitted to the top of the tank rather than to its side. It is the configuration most inground sand filter systems are plumbed for, and it puts the valve handle at a comfortable working height.

Ordering the filter and valve together avoids the usual mismatch problem, where a tank arrives and the valve on hand turns out to be the wrong size or the wrong mounting style for it.
