Quick overview

  • Five inch size The 5 inch pump lid, so measure the opening on your strainer pot before ordering.
  • SuperPro 25304-000-020 Order by the part number rather than by eye, since lid diameters are close together.
  • Strainer pot cover This is the lid over the pump basket, the one you take off to empty leaves and hair.
  • Replaces a clouded or cracked lid Lids go brittle and craze with sun and chemicals until they will not hold prime.
  • Lid only The lid on its own. A worn lid o-ring is a separate part and is worth changing at the same time.
  • Common wear item The most handled part on a pump, and the first place a suction side air leak shows up.

Product details

The SuperPro 25304-000-020 is a 5 inch pump lid, the cover that sits over the strainer basket at the front of a pool pump.

Why lids get replaced

It is the part of the pump that gets handled most: off for every basket clean, back on and tightened again. Sun and pool chemicals slowly make the plastic brittle, and a lid that has crazed or cracked will not hold a seal. That shows up as a pump that struggles to prime, or a basket with air sitting in the top of it while the pump runs.

Fitting

Check the size against your pot before ordering, because pump lid diameters sit close together. Replace the lid o-ring at the same time; a new lid on a flattened seal will still let air in.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What size is this lid?
Five inch. Measure across the opening on your strainer pot to confirm the match.
Does an o-ring come with it?
The listing is for the lid. Lid o-rings are sold separately, and a new one is worth fitting alongside a new lid.
Why will my pump not hold prime?
A cracked or crazed lid, or a flattened lid o-ring, lets air into the suction side. It is the first thing to check when a pump loses prime and the basket keeps showing air.
Which part of the pump is this?
The cover over the strainer basket at the front of the pump, the one you open to clear leaves.
