The Waterway 511-1310 is the trap lid for the SVL56 pool pump. It is the genuine Waterway replacement for the clear cover over the strainer pot.
What the lid is doing
Everything on the suction side of a pool pump depends on the trap lid holding a seal. If the lid is cracked, crazed or sitting on a tired o-ring, the pump draws air instead of water and either loses prime outright or runs noisily with a swirl of bubbles in the pot. It is also the window onto the strainer basket, so a clouded lid means you stop noticing when the basket is full.
Fitting it
This is a direct replacement for the lid already on the pump. While you have it off, look at the lid o-ring and the sealing surface of the pot. A new lid on a flattened seal will not fix a prime problem, and lubricating the seal to the manufacturer instructions keeps the next lid from sticking or being overtightened.
