Product details

The Waterway 310-5400 is the 6 in. pump trap assembly with 1.5 in. by 1.5 in. connections. It is the genuine Waterway part, and it arrives with the self locking lid and the 415-4050 clamp nut already on the pump side.

What the trap does

The trap sits ahead of the pump and holds the leaves, hair and grit pulled in from the pool. Everything it catches is debris that never reaches the impeller, so a sound trap with a lid that seals is what keeps the pump primed and the flow steady.

Sizing and fit

Connections are standard 1-1/2 in. PVC plumbing size. The nut that screws onto the pump measures close to 2-3/8 in. inside diameter, so measure yours before ordering if you are matching an older housing. Waterway lists this trap under its center discharge pump parts, and the product copy also names the Hi-Flo aboveground pump, so compare the old assembly against the photos if you are unsure which family your pump belongs to.

The lid

The assembly now comes with the new style lid, part 319-4100. If you have been running the old lid, expect the replacement to look different; the self locking design is the current one.
