What a wet end covers
The wet end is the entire water side of the pump, the half that bolts onto the motor. Buying it complete means you are not sourcing the housing, the impeller, the diffuser and the seals as separate line items and hoping every piece matches. It goes onto the motor you already have.
When it is the right call
A cracked pot, stripped union threads, a warped lid seat, or a housing that has been over tightened once too often are all reasons to change the wet end rather than the whole pump. The motor is usually the expensive half and it is often perfectly good.

This wet end is built to 3 HP sizing with 2 inch ports and 56 frame mounting. Read the model and horsepower off the pump label before ordering, since Executive wet ends are not interchangeable across horsepowers.
