Waterway 310-7470 is the high pressure diffuser assembly for Champion 56 frame pumps and SVL56 high flow pumps rated 3/4 hp through 2-1/2 hp.
What it does
The diffuser closes over the impeller and gives the water leaving it a defined path into the volute. That shaping is where a meaningful part of the pump pressure comes from. When the diffuser splits, or its sealing face wears back, flow escapes and circles inside the pump instead of leaving it. The motor sounds unchanged, the current draw barely moves, and the only signal is a filter gauge that will not come up to where it used to sit.
