The Waterway 310-4190 is the new style 4 HP impeller for Waterway Executive pumps, used across both the 48 frame and 56 frame builds.
About the markings
This is the part that catches people out. Waterway casts the impeller with the part numbers for the 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 HP versions all on the same piece. What actually separates one rating from the next is the thickness of the impeller, not the numbers stamped on it. So do not try to identify a used impeller by reading it: match the horsepower of the pump instead.
Fitting
The shaft seal used with this impeller is the PS-1000. Anytime the impeller comes off, the seal comes with it, so plan on replacing both together rather than reusing a seal that has already been unseated.
When it needs changing
A worn impeller loses flow quietly. The returns get lazy, the skimmer stops pulling, and filter pressure reads lower than it used to because the pump can no longer move the same water. Debris packed into the vanes does the same thing and is worth checking first.
