The Sta-Rite C23-58 is the shaft sleeve for the C and CC Series commercial pumps in cast iron and bronze, and for the D Series commercial pumps DMH, DMJ, DHH and DHJ. It is the genuine Sta-Rite part.
What it does
The sleeve slides over the pump shaft and gives the mechanical seal a hard, smooth surface to ride on. That means the sleeve takes the wear instead of the shaft, which is the expensive part. On a commercial pump running long hours, that difference matters.
When to replace it
Any time the mechanical seal comes out, look at the sleeve. If it is scored, grooved or pitted where the seal ran, put in a new one. A worn sleeve will cut a fresh seal apart and put you back into the same repair far sooner than you should have to be.
