Product details

The Sta-Rite C3-185P3 is the 6 in. biguanide resistant trap cover for the pump strainer pot. It is the new OEM part, built by Pentair under the Sta-Rite name.

What the trap cover does

It is the lid that comes off to empty the pump basket, and it is also part of the pump suction seal. If it does not seal, the pump pulls air instead of water, loses prime and runs hot. A cover that has crazed white, cracked at the rim or lost its flat sealing face is the fault behind a lot of pumps that will not hold prime.

Biguanide resistance

Biguanide sanitizers are harder on clear plastics than chlorine is, and standard covers fail early in those pools. This one is built for that duty. It works normally in a chlorine pool as well, so it is not a choice you can get wrong.

The cover seals against its own o-ring. That o-ring is a separate part and is usually the same age as the cover being replaced, so fit a new one at the same time and lubricate it with a pool grade silicone lubricant.
