Product details

Pentair part 51000700 is the spring used in 1-1/2 inch and 2 inch multiport valves. It is the genuine Pentair part from the American Products valve range.

What the spring does

A multiport valve works by turning a keyed rotor across a sealing seat. The spring is what keeps that rotor pressed down against the seat as it turns. When it weakens or breaks, the rotor no longer seals properly and water starts finding paths the handle position did not select. That shows up as sand in the pool, water going to waste while filtering, or a filter that will not build normal pressure.

When to fit one

Usually as part of a valve rebuild. If the valve is open far enough to reach the spring, inspect the seals and the seat at the same time, because taking a multiport apart twice for two small parts is time nobody gets back.
