Product details

This is the Hayward SX240DPAK10, a pack of ten SX240D threaded laterals for Hayward sand filters. They measure 6 7/8 inches long and 7/8 inches in diameter, and thread in on a 3/4 inch MPT connection.

What laterals do

Laterals are the slotted fingers at the bottom of a sand filter. Water leaves the tank through them, and the slots are narrow enough to hold the sand back while letting filtered water pass. When a lateral cracks, sand goes straight out to the returns and shows up on the pool floor.

Fit and quantity

They are listed for many Hayward sand filters including the S220S and the S244S, and may fit other Hayward models, so check the length, diameter and thread against the lateral you are replacing. They come ten to a pack because the whole set sits in the same sand and wears at the same rate.
