They fail from being used Straps stretch, tear at the loop and rot from years of wet DE and sun, usually right when you need them.

Product details

This is the pair of lift straps for the Jacuzzi Avalanche AV-40 and Landslide LS-40 DE filters, supplied as a new OEM Jacuzzi Bros part. Two straps come in the set.

What they are for

The grid assembly inside a DE filter is heavy once it is loaded with diatomaceous earth and water, and it sits down in the tank with nothing convenient to grab. The lift straps are the handles: you pull on them to raise the whole pack straight up and out for cleaning. Without them you are wrestling the manifold or the grids themselves, which is how grids get cracked.

When to replace them

Straps stretch, fray and tear at the loop after enough seasons of wet DE, chlorine and sun. The failure usually shows up mid clean, with the grid pack half out of the tank. If one strap has gone, the other is the same age, which is why they are sold as a pair. Check that your filter is the AV-40 or LS-40 size, since the larger Avalanche and Landslide models use different straps.
