The Hayward AXV070 is a plastic cone gear used in a range of Hayward suction side pool cleaners. It is the genuine Hayward part.
What it does
These cleaners have no motor. Suction from the pump drives a turbine, and a train of gears turns that rotation into the slow walking motion that carries the cleaner around the pool. The cone gear is one link in that train. When its teeth round off or strip, water still flows through the cleaner but it stops moving, or it moves in one direction only.
Before you fit it
Hayward uses several similar looking gears across this cleaner family, so hold the new gear against the one you removed before it goes in. While the cleaner is open, look at the gears either side of it. They have done the same hours, and a new gear meshing against worn teeth wears down faster than it should.
A note on color: the part name lists this gear as clear, while one of our internal descriptions lists AXV070 as light gray. The part number is the same in both records, and we are confirming which Hayward currently ships.
