The Hayward SPX0540A is the light face plate with studs for the Duralite underwater lights. It is the genuine Hayward part.
What the face plate does
The plate is what pulls the lens down against its gasket and holds the whole front of the fixture together. That means the plate is doing structural work, not trim work. When it cracks, corrodes badly or loses a stud, the clamp goes uneven and water finds its way past the gasket.
While the light is apart
The lens gasket is a separate Hayward part. If the fixture is open far enough to change the face plate, it is worth putting a fresh gasket in at the same time rather than reusing one that has already taken a set.
