Product details

Hayward SPX0590G is the lens gasket for the Astrolite II pool light, models SP-0590S and SP-0590HS. It is the genuine Hayward part.

What it does

The gasket sits between the lens and the light housing and is the only thing keeping pool water out of the fixture. It is a small part with a large job, and it is the part that fails quietly, because a fixture can take on water for a while before anyone notices the light has stopped working.

Fit a new one every time

Once a gasket has been squeezed down and heat cycled in service it takes a permanent set and will not seal properly a second time. Any time the light comes out of the niche and the lens comes off, put a fresh gasket in before it goes back together. Kill power at the breaker before pulling the fixture.

Do I need a new gasket every time I change the bulb?
Yes, treat it that way. Once a gasket has been compressed and heat cycled it takes a set and will not reseal reliably, and a leaking fixture is a far bigger job than the gasket.
Is this a genuine Hayward part?

Does the bulb come with it?
No. This is the lens gasket only. The bulb is a separate part.
