Quick overview

  • Genuine Pentair Factory part 270119Z, not a generic repair kit.
  • Covers two sizes Listed for the 2.50 inch and 3 inch CPVC check valves.
  • Flapper service The kit is the flapper replacement for the valve, so a worn flap does not mean a new valve.
  • Saves the valve body The CPVC body stays glued in the plumbing while the internals are renewed.
  • Stops backflow A check valve that no longer holds lets water drain back and loses prime between runs.
  • Equipment pad repair Common service item on solar, heater and pump return lines built with CPVC check valves.

Product details

The Pentair 270119Z is the rebuild kit for Pentair 2.50 inch and 3 inch CPVC check valves. It is the genuine Pentair part, and it is what you order when the valve itself is sound but the flapper inside has stopped sealing.

What a failed check valve looks like

A check valve is supposed to pass water one way and hold it the other. When the flapper wears, warps or tears, water runs backwards through the line. On a pump return that shows up as lost prime after every shutdown; on a solar or heater loop it shows up as water draining out of the panels or the heat exchanger.

Why rebuild instead of replace

The valve body is CPVC and it is glued into the plumbing. Replacing it means cutting pipe and rebuilding a section of the pad. This kit renews the working parts so the body stays where it is, which is a much shorter job and a much smaller bill.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which valves does this kit fit?
It is listed for the Pentair 2.50 inch and 3 inch CPVC check valves.
Do I have to cut the valve out of the plumbing?
No. The point of a rebuild kit is that the glued CPVC body stays where it is and only the internal parts are replaced.
Is this a genuine Pentair part?
Yes. It is Pentair part number 270119Z.
How do I know the check valve needs rebuilding?
If the pump loses prime when it shuts off, or water runs back through a line that should hold, the flapper inside the check valve is usually the reason.
