The EQ Series is Pentair's commercial line, for pools, waterparks and large residential systems that pump all day. The premium efficient motor matters more here than on a backyard pump because the hours add up, and the strainer pot keeps hair and lint out of the impeller between cleanings.

Is the Pentair 340031 a single phase or three phase pump?
Three phase. Pentair's model name for 340031 is the EQK500, and the K in an EQ Series model marks the three phase version. It runs on 208-230 V or 460 V and draws 13.5 A at 208 V, 12.3 A at 230 V or 6.2 A at 460 V at full load. Pentair's 5 HP single phase pump with the strainer pot is the EQ500, part number 340030, on 230 V only.
How many GPM does the Pentair EQK500 pump at 50 feet of head?
About 300 GPM, read from the three phase curve in Pentair's EQ Series manual, at 60 Hz and 3,450 RPM. Flow falls as head rises, so work out the total dynamic head of your own system first; Pentair's advice is to pick a pump that will run near the middle of its curve, where it is most efficient.
How far above the water can a Pentair EQK500 be installed?
Pentair's manual says a pump sold as self-priming has shown in a test lab that it primes from 10 ft above the water level within 45 minutes. It wants an experienced professional to look at any installation more than 5 ft above or 10 ft below the water, and when the pump sits above the water, the strainer pot is filled before the pump is started.
What warranty does Pentair give the EQK500 when it is bought online?
One year, parts only, from the date of purchase. Pentair's warranty terms give that to every product bought on the internet, its authorized online resellers included. Pentair also gives one year to products installed at a commercial facility, which it defines as anything other than a single family home, and its three year bundle warranty applies to neither commercial installations nor online purchases.
