The Pentair 340034 is the EQK1000, the 10 horsepower three phase model in the EQ Series of premium efficient commercial pumps. It is supplied with the strainer pot, so the basket housing that catches debris ahead of the impeller comes as part of the unit.

Power requirements

This is a three phase pump for a 208-230/460 V supply. Current draw is 27/26.2 A on the low voltage connection and 13.1 A at 460 V. Confirm the service at the site before ordering, because three phase power is a commercial supply and the pump cannot be run from a standard residential panel.

Where it belongs

Commercial pools, where turnover requirements are high and the pump runs most of the day. On a duty cycle like that, a premium efficient motor is the difference between a reasonable power bill and an unreasonable one.

Delivery and installation

The pump ships by freight. Plan for the installation to be done by a licensed electrician and a pool professional, as the wiring, mounting and plumbing all need to suit a pump of this size.

Is the Pentair 340034 an EQ1000 or an EQK1000?
An EQK1000. In Pentair's EQ Series the K marks a three phase model, and 340034 is the 10 HP three phase pump with the strainer pot, for 208-230 V or 460 V. Pentair's EQ1000 is a different pump: the 10 HP single phase model on 230 V, part number 340238 with the pot.
Will a Pentair EQK1000 replace a Pentair C Series pump?
Pentair lists the EQ Series as a drop-in replacement for its C Series and CSP pumps. Before ordering, match horsepower, phase and voltage to the nameplate on the pump coming out; this one is 10 HP, three phase, 208-230 V or 460 V. With the strainer pot it is 43.29 inches long overall and weighs 146 lb.
How much flow does the Pentair EQK1000 give at 50 feet of head?
About 515 GPM, read from the three phase curve in Pentair's EQ Series manual, at 60 Hz and 3,450 RPM. The same curves put the EQK750 at about 425 GPM and the EQK1500 at about 725 at that head. Flow falls as head rises, so work out the total dynamic head of your own system first; Pentair's advice is to pick a pump that will run near the middle of its curve, where it is most efficient.
Is a Pentair EQK1000 bought online covered by a warranty?
One year, parts only, from the date of purchase. Pentair's warranty terms give that to every product bought on the internet, its authorized online resellers included. Pentair also gives one year to products installed at a commercial facility, which it defines as anything other than a single family home, and its three year bundle warranty applies to neither commercial installations nor online purchases.
