The Pentair 357102Z is the genuine seal plate gasket for the IntelliFlo pump family and for earlier WhisperFlo pumps. It seals the joint between the seal plate and the volute.
The joint it seals
A pool pump wet end is two halves bolted together: the volute that the plumbing attaches to, and the seal plate that carries the shaft seal and bolts to the motor. This gasket lives on that seam. It is the reason a pump full of water under pressure does not drip onto the pad. When it hardens, tears or takes a set, you get a slow leak that shows up as a wet spot under the pump and, over time, rust on the motor below it.
Compatibility
It is listed for IntelliFlo VS, IntelliFlo VF and IntelliFlo VS-SVRS pumps, and for WhisperFlo pumps manufactured before February 1, 2008. WhisperFlo owners should check the build date on the pump before ordering, since later units are outside that listing.
Fit a new gasket whenever the seal plate is separated from the volute. The part is inexpensive next to the labor of taking the same pump apart twice.
