Product details

The Pentair R172210 is a reducer bushing, 2 inch slip by 1-1/2 inch slip. It is the genuine Pentair part, listed under the Rainbow chlorinator and automatic feeder parts for models 320 and 322.

What it is for

It steps a 2 inch slip socket down to a 1-1/2 inch slip connection in one piece. That size change comes up constantly around feeders and chlorinators, where equipment is plumbed at one size and the pipe run is another. Doing it with a single bushing means one fitting and two joints instead of a reducing coupling and a length of pipe.

Fitting it

Both ends are slip, so the bushing is solvent welded in. That makes for a clean, permanent joint, but it is permanent: if the section will need to come apart for service, put a union in the run rather than planning to cut the bushing out later.
