The Pentair 350090Z is the Cam and Ramp clamp for the strainer lid on the SuperFlo inground pool and spa pump. It is supplied in almond, and Pentair lists it under both 350090 and 350090Z.
What it does
The clamp is the mechanism that pulls the strainer lid down onto its O-ring. The cam and ramp geometry converts a short turn of the lid into even clamping force all the way around, which is what keeps the pot sealed against the vacuum on the suction side.
The symptom of a worn clamp
A pump that will not hold prime, or one with a persistent stream of bubbles in the lid, is usually leaking air. The lid O-ring gets the blame first, but if the clamp is cracked or its ramp is worn smooth, no amount of new O-ring will fix it because the lid cannot be pulled down evenly any more.
