The Pentair 31953-0101 is the 2A1 cord assembly, a 3 foot cord fitted with a 20 amp Twist-Lok plug. Pentair lists it for JWPA Series 1/2 and 3/4 HP pumps, JWPA Series 1 and 1-1/2 HP pumps, and the Sta-Rite pool and spa pump.

Why a locking plug

Pumps vibrate, and a straight blade plug at the equipment pad works itself loose over a season. A Twist-Lok plug turns into its receptacle and stays there. It also means the connection cannot be pulled apart by a tug on the cord, which matters on a piece of equipment sitting outdoors near water.

Before you order

The cord is 3 feet, so it is meant for a receptacle already sited at the pump. Check that your existing plug is the 20 amp Twist-Lok pattern rather than the 15 amp one, because the two do not mate. Cut power at the breaker before touching the old cord, and hand the job to an electrician or a pool tech if pump wiring is not your ground.

How long is the cord?
3 feet. It is a short pigtail rather than an extension, so the receptacle needs to be close to the pump.
